The grey quilt with the maroon bars in it ended up being enormous — it’s California king sized (something around 10’x 12′) and weighs a ton, but it’s warm! I rarely work from a pattern, and I didn’t on this one, either. I just cut 3 inch wide strips of various grey fabrics and then sewed them together. To quilt it, I just used my regularly sewing machine and quilted in the ditch of the strips, but that took some finagling to roll up that much fabric so that it would fit under the machine. The maroon bars in it weren’t my idea — the man I was making it for wanted it that way. Not what I would have done without his suggestion, but it turned out looking good!
