Replacing all of the doorknobs

My house has all of the original solid-core doors with beveled panels. They are lovely. The problem is that they all had those cheap hideous fake-brass-gold-colored doorknobs on them. Clearly, then needed new doorknobs and escutcheon plates. I headed off to the my local architectural salvage store and spent hours rooting through bins of old doorknob parts. Then, I replaced all of the doorknobs in the house with mismatched doorknobs. I am glad they are eclectic and aren’t matchy-matchy. The bathroom door, of course, needed an old porcelain faucet to act as the knob.
